Lake Gosinkunda, October 12

MY GREAT HIMALAYA TRAIL X RANDY SUN

2021-10-12

How good it is when you don't have to think about acclimatization! In two days we gained 3 kilometers of altitude and nothing. No discomfort at all. By 10:30 in the morning we were already near Lake Gosinkunda at an altitude of 4,400 meters. It's cool in here. That is, it is more or less warm in the sun, but in the shade the grass is covered with frost.

On the way to the lake, a fantastic panorama of the mountain range opens: Dhaulagiri, Machchepuche Re, Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Lantang and a bunch of peaks in Tibet are visible. That is, even the mountains are visible, to which about 200 kilometers in a straight line! This is one of the most stunning views on my route. And we were lucky with the weather - for the first time in the morning there were not a single cloud in the sky.

The lakes are also very beautiful. There is a whole lake system of several dozen lakes, but there are probably three large lakes. One of them is Lake Gosinkunda, near which we rest all day.

I ran 200 meters higher to the observation deck, but the view towards Langtang was completely covered with clouds. But from here Lake Gosinkunda and the neighboring Lake Bhairab look very good.

And, of course, we tried to swim. But in the cold wind, things did not go well - instead of a full-fledged bathing, we only plunged a couple of times. The water is clean, but very cold. And deep right near the shore.
